Accessing Disability Services

Accessing Disability Services

Students requesting reasonable accommodations and/or services must submit documentation of a disabling condition to verify eligibility under the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Disability Services’ own guidelines.

Step 1: Submit Documentation
Submit current documentation of disability to Disability Services, contact information below. All documentation is kept confidential. Inadequate information, incomplete answers, and/or illegible handwriting will delay the eligibility review process.

Applicants and current students may mail, email, or bring documentation to:

Kennebec Valley Community College
92 Western Avenue, Fairfield, ME 04937

Phone: 207.453.5150

Students are encouraged to submit materials as early as possible.

Once your documentation has been submitted, you will be contacted in order to schedule an intake appointment to discuss accommodations, procedures, and services. Disability Services requires five business days to review the file prior to the intake appointment.

Step 2: Meet with Faculty
After the intake appointment, students who have been approved for reasonable accommodations will be given faculty notification letters to be given to their instructors each semester. Students should meet with each instructor to discuss the arrangements for receiving accommodations.
